Joy Trotter and the Miss Pickle Outstanding Children’s Service Award
Some stories come full circle in the most beautiful ways.
Long before Joy Trotter became the beloved Children’s Librarian she is today, she was a child sitting in the library, growing up with Miss Pickle (Wanda Brown) as her children’s librarian.
Miss Pickle left a lasting impression on Joy — years later, she chose a path that would allow her to create that same sense of wonder and connection for generations of children in our community.
Joy has had the incredible honor of receiving the Miss Pickle Outstanding Children’s Service Award — an award created to celebrate the legacy of the very librarian who helped make the library such a special place during Joy’s own childhood.
There is something incredibly special about watching a child grow up, find her own place in the library, and ultimately be recognized in the name of someone who helped shape her love of it.
Congratulations, Joy.
Your story is a beautiful reminder that the work we do with children can stay with them for a lifetime — sometimes inspiring them to come back and carry the story forward themselves.
We couldn’t be prouder of you.
