Food for Fines is back!

Have a damaged-book fee? Turn it into an opportunity to give back!

In November, Meade County Public Library is hosting Food for Fines, a community initiative that lets patrons with eligible damaged-book fees bring in designated food and household supplies in exchange for credit toward their library fees.

Instead of paying your eligible fee with money, bring qualifying items to support local families and individuals in need. We will distribute all collected donations to food pantries in Meade County.

Accepted Donations

The following items qualify for fee credit:

  • $2: Canned Tuna (5 oz.), Vienna Sausages
  • $3: Crackers, Cereal
  • $4: Spam, Beef Stew, Canned Chicken Breast, Canned Tuna (12 oz.)
  • $6: Shampoo, Body Wash
  • $10: Laundry Detergent, Deodorant, Toilet Paper

Donation Guidelines

  • All items must be unopened and in good condition.
  • No dented or damaged items will be accepted.
  • Food items must not be expired or within one month of their expiration date.
  • No cash change will be given.
  • Donations are applied toward eligible damaged-book fees.

A little generosity can make a big difference. Join us in turning library fees into meaningful support for our neighbors. Together, we can make a difference in our community, one donation at a time!
